The Smashing Pumpkins are set to begin their 2022 spring tour this May with special appearances in several music festivals between tour dates. One stop during their tour includes a performance at the Santa Barbara Bowl on Friday, May 13th.
The rock legends were formed in 1988 by frontman and lead vocalist Billy Corgan, bassist D’arcy Wretzky, guitarist James Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin. Throughout the years, The Smashing Pumpkins have changed their line-ups and have even split up for six years. The band returned in 2006 releasing a new album the following year, Zeitgeist. Their current line-up consists of Billy Corgan, James Iha, Jimmy Chamberlin and guitarist Jeff Schroeder.
The Smashing Pumpkins is known for their gothic rock and dream pop sound. They are most recognized for their grand albums Siamese Dreamand the double album Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. The Grammy Award-winning band announced a double album, set to serve as a sequel to Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. This year, The Smashing Pumpkins are finally returning to the stage with appearances in music festivals and a full tour, which has been postponed for two years due to Covid-19. The tour includes a stop at the Santa Barbara Bowl followed by a special performance at the Beachlife Festival on May 15th.
