It has been quite the comeback year for the Coachella Music Festival. With all of the original 2020 headliners initially set to return for 2021 and finding replacements for each day, they successfully did so. After the shocking news that Ye had dropped out of the festival a week before it was supposed to begin, the festival organizers pulled through with a new replacement. Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd are set to replace Ye and close out the festival Sunday night.

The co-headline makes sense, as both Swedish House Mafia and The Weeknd have a few songs together. Even if Ye were still in play, The Weeknd could have also made a surprise guest appearance during the group’s set to play their collaborations. TMZ reported that The Weeknd, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Silk Sonic were at the top of the list to replace Ye at the last minute. Billboard also reported that Doja Cat was in the running to take the top spot as it would have been more convenient to bump her up one more spot.

Coachella will begin April 15-17, with the second weekend to follow from April 22-24. Harry Styles and Billie Eilish will be headlining the other days as planned. Other acts on the lineup include Wallows, Turnstile, Japanese Breakfast, Megan Thee Stallion, Flume, Disclosure, Jamie xx, King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard and Vince Staples.
