Daddy Yankee at The Forum on August 13th

The King of Reggaeton, Daddy Yankee, recently announced his retirement from the music industry alongside the surprise of a final album and world tour. Daddy Yankee has included two shows in Southern California one of which is at The Forum on August 13th followed by a show in Ontario at the Toyota Arena on August 19th.

Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, famously known as Daddy Yankee, is accredited as one of the pioneers to have founded the music genre of reggaeton. After suffering from a gunshot wound that forced him to leave the dreams behind of becoming a professional baseball player, Yankee focused on his music career. He is often recognized for his major impact on the music industry, particularly for launching reggaeton as a worldwide phenomenon. He’s most recognized for his hit songs “Gasolina” and “Somos de Calle.”

The Puerto Rican rapper has been awarded seven Billboard Music Awards and inducted into the Billboard Latin Music Hall of Fame. Major Latin artists such as Bad Bunny, J Balvin, Becky G and many more have publicly thanked Daddy Yankee for paving the way for future artists. Not only has he impacted the music industry, but has also spoken up for human rights, promoted environmentalism, donated money towards disaster relief funds, and so much more.

The world was stunned on March 20thas Daddy Yankee announced his retirement via an emotional video posted on his official website and social media. The King of Reggaeton formally announced his final album, Legendaddy, and a farewell tour thanking fans and friends for the love and support throughout his career. The final album is composed of songs with all the different styled the Puerto Rican rapper has done over the 32 years of his career.
