The rock band Circa Survive announced today that it has canceled its upcoming 10th anniversary tour for their Blue Sky Noise album. In a social media post, the band cited the mental health of singer Anthony Green, alongside other factors, that ultimately led the band to this decision.
The anniversary tour was planned before the pandemic, when the album turned 10 in 2020. Circa Survive had to continuously reschedule shows as a result of the effects of the pandemic. Despite these changes, the band did release new music, including an EP in the fall and A Dream About Death in early February.
The tour was originally meant to begin January 7, and conclude March 5 with appearances from special guests Tigers Jaw and Soul Glo.
Green has been vocal about his mental health issues in the past. Following the releases band’s new EPs, Green said,
“I was diagnosed and a lot of the songs have to deal with me being bipolar. I had been dealing with that diagnosis right when I was writing a lot of this music and you deal with some pretty different extremes when you’re bipolar and I thought the symbolism of putting [the music] out in two pieces would kind of give each of the pieces a spotlight. The idea of a relationship that is splitting was one thing, but now it’s two again. So I really liked that symbolism.”
