After the news of the rock singer Meat Loaf’s death last week at the age of 74, guitarist Scott Ian of the heavy metal band Anthrax, who performed at Riot Fest in September 2021, paid tribute to his father-in-law.
The late rock singer Meat Loaf was best known for his 1977 album Bat Out of Hell and his 1993 album Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell. He is also known for his acting performances in the 1975 cult classic The Rocky Horror Picture Show, as well as the 1999 film Fight Club. It was announced last Thursday, January 20, that he passed away with his wife, Deborah, by his side, as well as his daughters, Pearl and Amanda, and his close friends. The cause of death was not confirmed.
Meat Loaf, whose real name is Michael Aday, was the adoptive father of rock singer Pearl Aday. Pearl Aday and Ian married in 2011 and both share a 10-year-old son, Revel Ian. Among the many musicians that paid tribute to the late singer, the Anthrax guitarist did not speak out immediately until now, according to Loudwire.
On his Instagram, Ian wrote a heartfelt caption to pair with two cheerful photos of Meat Loaf. At the end of his post, Ian wrote, “Thank you to everyone for the outpouring of love, we feel it. …I love you Meat.”
