Josh Klinghoffer Covers “Thank You For Being A Friend” As Tribute To Betty White

The entire nation of the United States has been mourning the death of actress and comedian Betty White. Consequence Sound reports that among these fans of the brilliant actress has been the former guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Josh Klinghoffer. On his Instagram, Klinghoffer released a cover of the theme song of The Golden Girls, a sitcom starring Betty White.

The cover shows a passionate Klinghoffer singing the song as he plays his acoustic guitar. The cover is slower than the original theme, and substitutes the piano-based instrumentation of the original with his fine guitar work.

In his post, he speaks of the great losses that he has experienced recently in his life. However, he also shares a more positive message, that we need to look forward to new beginnings. Klinghoffer encourages his audience to “try and do something differently. Make that call. Start that book. Go outside and breathe.” He suggests that we live our lives with the understanding that they won’t last forever, so we should try to make the most of the lives that we do have.

Josh Klinghoffer is the former guitarist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and has since went on to perform with Pearl Jam. He has continued to release music under his own solo-project, Pluralone. Pluralone released an album titled I Don’t Feel Well in October of 2020.
