Kings of Leon have canceled their remaining tour dates as Betty Ann Murphy, the mother of three of the members in the group, passed last week.
Originally the group had canceled two shows and flew home to see Murphy as she “took a turn for the worse.” After Betty Ann’s passing, brothers Caleb, Jared and Nathan Followill along with their cousin Matthew Followill, thought it best to cancel their remaining shows as well in order to spend time with family.
The band followed up on Instagram stating, “We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from our fans. If you haven’t heard, our mom Betty Ann passed away peacefully last week. We’ve decided to cancel all remaining tour dates through October to be with our families. Thanks for the kind words and all the love you’ve given to the entire Followill family.”
According to Loudwire, both Nathan and Jared made heartful statements on social media in remembrance of their mom.
“My heart is broken,” Nathan wrote on his Instagram. “My beautiful mother and biggest fan has passed on from this life and into the next. I will cherish the memories I made with her and her legacy will live on through me, my brothers and our beautiful families.”
“You were the strongest, sweetest, most beautiful woman in the world to me,” wrote Jared. “You were a better mama and grandmother than any of us deserved. I’m SO proud you are my mom. Always have been and always will be. love you so much. I will miss you every single day until I’m with you again.”
Kings of Leon was on tour for their eighth studio album When You See Yourself which released in March of this year. Back in February, the group shared black and white music video for their single “Echoing.”
