The Offspring returned to the stage for their first live performance since quarantine, this Sunday afternoon on August 8th at the SoFi Stadium for the LA Chargers Fan Fest hosted by The Woody Show from Alt. 98.7. Guests were treated to performances by The Maine, The Offspring and the LA Chargers famous drumline The Thunderbolts before having the opportunity to watch the LA Chargers practice.
For the first time since its construction, fans were able to enjoy the SoFi Stadium, the new home for the LA Chargers. Even from the parking lot, you could hear the thunderous cheering of overjoyed fans pleased to experience the LA Chargers Fan Fest. Before the concert began, Neil Diamond’s classic “Sweet Caroline” had everyone bonding and singing along.
Soon, fans were dancing along to The Maine’s dynamic performance. I’ve never heard of The Maine before, but their efforts to make sure every single person is enjoying themselves and their interaction with the audience is like no other. At one point, John O’Callaghan, The Maine’s lead singer, caught a green June beetle and handed it to an audience member who then ate it. Yes, he ate it! Nonetheless, The Maine’s incredible performance hyped up the crowd.
Though crew workers had a few technical difficulties that delayed The Offspring’s show, fans were kept entertained by the LA Chargers’ Fan Fest hosts and Alt 98.7’s DJ Scotty Fox. Suddenly, fans began cheering as they spotted Dexter Holland and Noodles, frontmen of The Offspring, climb on stage. Instantly, thousands of fans were blown away by the electrifying guitars.
The Offspring brought the full force of rock and blazed the stage with their classic hits such as “Pretty Fly,” “The Kids Aren’t Alright” and “You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid.” The rock legends continuously thanked the crowd for their warm welcome and intense energy that made them appreciate being able to perform live once again. They were able to perform some of their new music live, such as “Let the Bad Times Roll” and “The Opioid Diaries” which had fans crowd surfing and dancing..
After the concert, the crowd bonded once more as they sang along to Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” once again and made their way to their seats to watch the LA Chargers open practice. Needless to say, the LA Chargers Fan Fest was a memorable experience for all as everyone bonded over music, food and sports.
