Singer/songwriter Torres recently announced a North American and European Tour starting this fall and wrapping up in spring 2022. The tour is in support of Torres’ new album, Thirstier, out July 30
via Merge Records. The tour will stop in Los Angeles at The Troubadour on October 3, 2021.
Torres, aka Mackenzie Scott, has been releasing music since 2013 with the debut of her self-titled album. She’s toured extensively alongside notable acts including Lady Lamb the Beekeeper, Okkervil River, Sharon Van Etten and Hamilton Leithauser. The singer/songwriter has four studio albums under her belt, with a fifth release coming out this summer, Thirstier. The new album is about love and daring greatly. “I’ve been conjuring this deep, deep joy that I honestly didn’t feel for most of my life,” says Scott about the album. “I feel like a rock within myself. And I’ve started to feel that I have what it takes to help other people conjure their joy, too.”
The new album is guitar-forward with walls of sound and strong vocals. “I wanted to channel my intensity into something that felt positive and constructive, as opposed to being intense in a destructive or eviscerating way,” Scott notes. “I love the idea that intensity can actually be something life-saving or something joyous.”
