Canadian Rock singer Morgan Lander has collaborated with nu-metal/trap group We Are PIGS to release the new hard-hitting single “MOOT” and its accompanying music video. The grungy, ferocious song takes an empowered stab at the disparities associated with being a woman in the industry, the project bringing together a fearless group of women to head up the fight against them.
The single begins with the chorus yelled in screamo style that is filled with rage, accompanied by typical rock instrumentation with consistent rhythms and chord progressions. The sung verses are emotional and rich in melody and sound quality, providing a strong lyrical backbone for the blind outrage expressed in between them.
The video is styled to be grungy and dark, the women dressed in dark clothing and intense makeup, the camera shots being especially close to their faces to capture the anger and intimidating confidence of the singers. The shots all mold into and overlap each other with scattered and blue color filtered visuals that reflect the emo themes and sounds of the single. Lander and We Are Pigs creator Esjay Jones’ lean into their message heavily with their acting, especially during the screamo choruses with the frequent flailing of their hair around their heads.
This project furthers the gritty and venomous reputation of We Are PIGS, the horrific music video for their single “Pulse Queen” having just been released this January. The song was their first original release, previously creating unique electronic covers of other heavy metal singles in addition to a number of other collaborations.
