Back in February, Mick Fleetwood gathered an all-star studded lineup for a performance to continue to celebrate and honor the legacy of his longtime friend Peter Green. Now, we are only a few weeks away from the release of the performance, which is taking pre-orders now will be available to stream on April 24 and on vinyl April 30. Ahead of the release dates, the official video for Mick Fleetwood and Friends “Albatross” was unveiled.
The song is a guitar based instrumental composed by Peter Green. It was released by Fleetwood Mac as a single in 1968. Its notable for its relaxing tone, replicating the soothing sensations of the sea. During the tribute show, it was Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour who was summoned to help perform the languid instrumental. Fleetwood himself once again channels the sound of waves with every cymbal strike, made even more evident with Gilmour’s comfortable slide guitar playing.
The very special concert occurred mere days before the first case of COVID-19 was discovered in the UK. It took place at the legendary Palladium in London, celebrating the songs of Peter Green and the original incarnation of Fleetwood Mac. The profuse roster of musical icons involved included Neil Finn, Noel Gallagher, Billy Gibbons, David Gilmour, Kirk Hammett, John Mayall, Christine McVie, Jeremy Spencer, Zak Starkey, Pete Townshend, Steven Tyler and Bill Wyman.
