Willie Nelson and Diana Krall have teamed up to release an animated short film for their remake of Frank Sinatra’s “I Won’t Dance.” The collaboration is set to be featured on Nelson’s upcoming album That’s Life, which is due out on February 26 and is said to pay homage to Sinatra. The forthcoming release will be Nelson’s second album honoring the influential singer.
The animated short film for “I Won’t Dance” visually portrays the sophisticated, elegant sound that the song holds. The video was animated by Manual Casares and Antonio Corral. The animation shows Nelson and Krall in an old-fashioned setting dating back in time. As for the song itself, they kept true to the jazzy sound that Sinatra was commonly known for achieving in his music.
Nelson recently released his rendition of “That’s Life,” which is another track that was originated by Sinatra. Not long before that, he released his political track “Vote ‘Em Out,” which was also released with an animated video, as a timely release for the 2020 presidential election.
In recent news, Nelson participated in the Light Up The Blues Autism Speaks Benefit, which is set to take place on April 10 this year at the Greek Theatre. The benefit will feature Nelson along with Neil Young, Oliver Stills, Jack Black and many more to help promote the Autism Speaks organization. The benefit was originally scheduled to take place last May but because of the coronavirus outbreak, it was postponed to this April.
Nelson was also recently announced as one of the new SXSW Festival event speakers for this year. The event is strictly virtual and is said to be four-day event. Matthew McConaughey, Queen Latifah, Lil Dicky, Laurieann Gibson and more are all alongside Nelson on the list of speakers for the event. Passes for the event are limited and are on sale for $250.
