’90s alt rock favorites the Barenaked Ladies are heading on their Last Summer on Earth Tour this summer and will be stopping at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on June 11, 2021. They’re taking more alt rock favorites with them with opening acts Gin Blossoms and Toad and the Wet Sprocket. The tour was initially scheduled to take place in 2020 but has been pushed back one year due to Covid-19.
The Barenaked Ladies’ ability to incorporate levity and humor in their music made their albums especially popular in the late ’90s. In their 20 plus year career, they sold over 15 million albums, written multiple top 20 hits including radio staples “One Week,” “Pinch Me,” “If I Had $1,000,000,” garnered 2 GRAMMY nominations, won eight JUNO Awards, had a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor named after them (“If I Had 1,000,000 Flavours”) and participated in the first-ever “space-to-earth musical collaboration” with astronaut Chris Hadfield. In 2018, the band were inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame and Toronto Mayor John Tory declared October 1st “Barenaked Ladies Day.” They were also asked to create the theme song for popular show The Big Bang Theory, which has been performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The band continue to push forward even with all of these accomplishments as they’re currently working on a 16th album. Their hit songs and incredible live performances have garnered the band a fanbase that spans worldwide. Check out their live performance for yourself at this expansive outdoor!
