Catch LA’s Mmmonika Live at the Moroccan Lounge 7/9/21

Indie boy band mmmonika are playing at the Moroccan Lounge in Los Angeles on July 9, 2021. They were originally scheduled to perform this year, first on June 25 then on November 6, but their show has been pushed back due to Covid-19.

Mmmonika are a Los Angeles based quintet is comprised of John DeBold (bass), Gabe Durastanti (guitar), Grant Milliken (keyboard), Nick Velez (drums) and Ryan Yoo (vocals, guitar). According to their Spotify bio, they’re all about creating “happy songs for sad people.” Their playful, upbeat melodies often contradict their lyrics, so prepare to laugh and cry while dancing all night.

The band released their debut EP Very American! on November 19 of last year.  One of the EP’s singles “Swamp Time” which was accompanied by a cheerful video directed by none other than former K-Pop star Amber Liu. Their second single “Unwind Me!” was also released with an uplifting video, and its catchy hooks had the song amassing over 800k streams on Spotify.  So far in 2020, the band has released another new single titled “Kerosene,” which is another upbeat, garage rock track that’ll get any indie rock crowd nodding along.
