It’s hard to believe that live concerts are happening as soon as this month, but this is one to definitely put on your radar if you’re a fan of ’70s rock. Canadian group Simply Saucer are coming to Zebulon in Los Angeles to perform their Cyborgs Revisited album in its entirety, plus some new material. Supporting acts will include Kamikaze Palmtree and Ty Segall on the ones and twos. If you’re a fan, be sure to grab your tickets because, aside from an appearance at Scion Fest in Portland, OR in 2009, these upcoming tour dates will be Simply Saucer’s first-ever west coast shows. They were initially scheduled to begin their tour in June 2020, but have pushed it back due to Covid-19.
Canadian rock band Simply Saucer formed in the ’70s with guitarist and vocalist Edgar Breau, keyboardist John LaPlante (aka Ping Romany), bass guitarist Kevin Christoff and drummer Neil DeMarchant. Coming up around time of The Stooges, MC5 and Alice Cooper, Simply Saucer incorporated punk and krautrock sounds into their high speed rock. However, they were mostly really known in their Canada hometown in Ontario. Their band name was chosen in tribute to the Pink Floyd album A Saucerful of Secrets.
In 2018, Simply Saucer released the deluxe double LP reissue of the band’s classic album, Cyborgs Revisted. Watch the band perform their notable sophomore album live in person!
