If 2020 were to have a festival announcement, it would appropriately be called “Sad Summer Festival.” The Sad Summer Festival presented by Journeys is hitting North America with a final stop in Anaheim at the City National Grove on August 7, 2021. The festival features a pop-punk lineup consisting of The Story So Far, The Maine, Movements, Grayscale, Destroy Boys, and Yours Truly.
This lineup definitely will pull on emo-lover’s heartstrings. Maryland’s All Time Low have been putting out their emo-laced pop-punk sounds since 2005. Their current lineup consists of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Alex Gaskarth, lead guitarist Jack Barakat, bassist and backing vocalist Zack Merrick and drummer Rian Dawson. The band took their name from emo outfit New Found Glory’s song “New Found Collision” and have been regulars in festivals like Warped Tour.
The Story So Far hail from Walnut Creek, CA and have four albums under their belt. Tempe, Arizona’s The Maine have been releasing music since 2007, with their fourth studio album, Forever Halloween, reaching No. 39 on the Billboard 200 charts.
The festival’s proceeds will benefit the NIVA (National Independent Venue Association) which was formed to support local independent venues. Use #SaveOurStages to show your support, and grab your tickets for this once-in-a-lifetime fest.
