Art-rock legends The Residents are hitting the Regent Theater on May 26, 2021. They were initially scheduled to go on tour following the release of their double disc recording, METAL, MEAT & BONE, based on newly discovered recordings of Alvin Snow (a.k.a. Dyin’ Dog), but the North American tour was postponed due to Covid-19. On their website, the band have announced “WE ARE INDEED BACK!!! Well practically… sort of… The Residents’ Dog Stab tour has been rescheduled for the spring of 2021 and all of us who aren’t dead by then will be HUMPIN’ and BUMPIN’!!! WE’RE COMIN’ TO YOUR TOWN, WE’RE GONNA PARTY IT DOWN!!!” Here’s hoping that their superfluous use of exclamation points will be an indication of what’s to come on their tour.
Since their inception in ’74 The Residents have released over 60 albums and numerous short films, music videos and DVDs. The group are known for keeping their anonymity on stage, donning their signature eyeball helmets with top hats and tails. Their disregard for conventional lyrics and sounds have gained them a niche group of fans and influenced many experimental artists over the years. Stop at The Regent Theater and see The Residents and let your freak flag fly on May 26!
