Monster Magnet Celebrate the Anniversary of Powertrip at The Fonda Theatre 2/10/21

New Jersey’s stoner rock/metal outfit Monster Magnet recently re-scheduled their 2020 celebration tour due to Covid-19. Instead, the festivities will resume early in 2021 as they celebrate the anniversary of their fourth studio album Powertrip, which was originally released in 1998. The hit single “Space Lord” off Powertrip launched the group into mainstream success  in the late ’90s. During their 2021 tour, they’ll stop at The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on February 10. They’ll be joined by opening acts KADAVAR, Nebula and Silvertomb.

Monster Magnet is composed of lead vocalist and guitarist Dave Wyndorf, guitarist Phil Caivano, drummer Bob Pantella, guitarist Garrett Sweeney and bassist Alec Morton. Spanning their 21 year career, the group have released a total of 10 studio albums, with their most recent Mindfucker being released by Napalm records a couple of years ago in 2018. Their sound is heavily influenced by ’70s space rock and metal, as they site bands like Hawkwind, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple and Blue Öyster Cult. They’ve even listed new wave legends Depeche Mode as an influence, and covered “Black Celebration” on For the Masses, a ’98 Depeche Mode tribute album.

Frontman Dave Wyndorf  said it best in a recent press release,“Sweaty, live rock music and pandemics aren’t a good mix. So we’re gonna reschedule this thing and do it at a time when everyone can rub shoulders without freaking out!” Grab your tickets and join them next year at The Fonda Theatre.
