AJJ, formerly known Andrew Jackson Jihad, are heading out on tour next spring in support of their latest release, Good Luck Everybody. The tour was initially scheduled to begin this year but has been pushed back due to Covid-19. Good Luck Everybody, according to AJJ frontman Sean Bonnette, is “Sonically, it’s our least punk record, and lyrically, it’s our most punk record.” They’ll be joined by Xiu Xiu and Emperor X for their Regent Theater show on May 28, 2021.
AJJ formed in 2004 in Arizona by founding members Sean Bonnette, Ben Gallaty, and drummer Justin James White. Their current lineup consists of Bonnette, Gallaty, Preston Bryant on lead guitar, keys and backing vocals, Mark Glick on cello and Owen Evans on the drums. Their songwriting and lyrics tackle popular topics like politics, religion, addiction, existentialism and poverty. AJJ currently have seven albums under their belt and several compilations and split projects. They’ve toured with similar bands like the punk-forward Joyce Manor and Against Me!
Following the releases of lead singles “A Poem,” “Mega Guillotine 2020,” and “Loudmouth,” their latest album Good Luck Everybody was released on January 17, 2020. “I think it explores some of the weirder sides of AJJ, the more experimental leanings that we’ve had in the past,” bassist Ben Gallaty says about the new album. Check out their new, experimental-leaning sound at their upcoming LA show at The Regent Theater!
