See The Milk Carton Kids Live at the El Rey Theatre 3/17/21

LA’s own Grammy Award-nominated folk act The Milk Carton Kids are taking the stage at the El Rey Theatre on March 17, 2021. Their International tour was initially scheduled to begin this summer, but has been pushed back due to Covid-19. Indie-folk singer/songwriter Haley Heynderickx will join them on tour next year.

The Milk Carton Kids formed in 2011 by founding members Kenneth Pattengale and Joey Ryan as a collaborative project. Typically, they sing folk-inspired duets together while strumming acoustic guitar. They released two albums in 2011, Retrospect and studio LP Prologue and started touring shortly after. In 2018, they added a backing band to record their fourth album All The Things I Did and All The Things That I Didn’t Do, but they didn’t lose the delicate nature of their sound. In 2019, they pared down again and produced a brief album, The Only Ones.

Their minimalist folk sound has been compared to Gillian Welch and David Rawlings duets, but also appeals to roots and Americana fans. They’ve toured with popular folk acts including Old Crow Medicine Show and The Lumineers, increasing their fanbase even further. Earlier this year, they released a live album Live From the Lincoln Theatre, which includes 21 of their greatest songs.

If you’re a fan of stripped down folk and Americana, celebrate St. Paddy’s Day, 2021 with The Milk Carton Kids!
