Indie pop duo Tennis are heading out on their North American tour in March 2021 and will make a stop at the Fonda Theatre in LA on April 4, 2021. Their tour was initially scheduled to begin in February 2020, around the time their latest album Swimmer was released, but has been pushed back one year due to Covid-19. They’ll be joined by rising indie singer/songwriter Molly Burch for this upcoming tour.
Tennis has a striking way of mixing decades of influences of sounds from ’50s pop to ’70s rock and ’80s synth pop. The duo consists of Patrick Riley on the guitar and keys and Alaina Moore on vocals and keys. Her iconic curls are a surefire way to identify when Tennis has taken the stage. Another telltale sign that Tennis are on is that everyone in the crowd will be dancing and grooving. I’ve had the pleasure of seeing Tennis live at a few festivals now, including FYF Fest and throwback fest Just Like Heaven, and can attest to the fact that they’re a good time.
Their fifth studio album Swimmer was released on Valentine’s Day, February 14 2020. This is their first new offering since their 2017 EP We Can Die Happy. The lead single “Runner” set the tone for the new album, pushing the duo in a new artistic direction. They’re known to write music together almost exclusively during sea excursions. Swimmer was inspired after yet another sailing excursion on the Sea of Cortez.
Catch Tennis perform songs off their new album Swimmer that are sure to get you up and grooving.
