New Wave icon Adam Ant is coming to the Greek Theatre on May 22, 2021. The show was initially scheduled for May 16, 2020, but has been pushed back a full year due to Covid-19. This will be just one of his many stops for his Friend or Foe tour where he’ll be performing his landmark solo album starting this fall.
Adam Ant, aka Stuart Leslie Goddard, first formed his original band Adam and the Ants with guitarist Lester Square, bassist Andy Warren and drummer Paul Flanagan in 1977 in London. They arrived on the scene as a theatrical punk band, often incorporating sadomasochistic imagery in their live performances. For the duration of his career, Adam Ant’s sound evolved from his early days in punk to goth and pop.
Friend or Foe marked Adam Ant’s first release as a solo artist and includes hit singles like “Goody Two Shoes,” which reached to number one in the UK and Australia and number six on the USA Billboard Chart. His most successful album to date, Friend or Foe reached number five in the UK and sold over 100,000 copies. In the US it reached number 16 on the Billboard album chart and Adam Ant became a household name, resulting in a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist and an MTV award for “Sexiest Man Alive.”
