Pirate metal outfit Alestorm have released an animated music video for “Shit Boat (No Fans),” which was featured on their most recent studio album release Curse Of The Crystal Coconut. This latest video was directed by Simon Norton and reportedly took 17 weeks to complete.
“Shit Boat (No Fans)” utilizes the cartoonish animations to its fullest potential, interpreting the song’s parodical lyrics directly, with lines like “Your pirate ship can eat a giant bag of dicks,” being shown literally during the song. The song is brief, clocking in at only 75 seconds, filled with profanity, electric guitar chords and an anthemic drum line, complemented by accordion.
“Oh wow, everyone knows that short songs are the best songs, so naturally we had to make a music video for the shortest song on our album,” the band said in a press release. “This animation was put together by the lovely people at RMIT University in Melbourne, and it features all the classic elements of an ALESTORM video: Magical Girl transformations, giant Hungarian men dropping turds on your garden, rubber ducks, and crudely drawn cartoon penises. Enjoy!”
Alestorm released a music video in April for “Treasure Chest Party Quest” and showed off some of their behind the scenes recording processes during video for “Pirate Metal Drinking Crew.” The band’s most recent studio album release No Grave But The Sea came out back in 2017. Curse Of The Crystal Coconut is set to have 11 new tracks included, while retain the group’s trademark pirate themed concept and lyricism.
