Built to Spill Is Playing Union Transfer on July 30th

Built to Spill is a three-part indie rock group that was formed in Boise, Idaho back in 1992. The group has seen a lot of members come and go, but it was created by former Treepeople guitarist/vocalist Doug Martsch, along with Brett Nelson and Ralf Youtz — who are no longer in the group. The current lineup consists of Martsch (lead vocals, lead and rhythm guitar), Melanie Ratford (bass) and Teresa Esquerra (drums).

The group began to really take off after Martsch signed to Warner Bros. Records in 1995. Of their next six albums, four of them charted in the top 100 on the Billboard 200. Their most recent album came back in 2015, titled Untethered Moon. However, they just released a pretty cool project earlier this year called Built to Spill Plays the Songs of Daniel Johnston. It is a cover album, but I highly recommend you check it out. While you’re on their page, I would also check out some of their best songs: Carry The Zero, Liar and Going Against Your Mind. The show is at 8:30.
