The Decemberists 20th Anniversary Tour hits the Wiltern on 8/3/2021

After 20 years together, the Decemberists are celebrating their anniversary with a summer tour they’re calling “Twenty Years Before the Mast.” The tour was initially scheduled for summer 2020 but has been pushed one year due to the pandemic. It’s still set to stop at the historic Wiltern theater on August 3, 2021, where they will be joined by Chicago-based indie-folk band the Fruit Bats.

Singer Colin Meloy shared, “On such occasions, it seems fitting to throw some kind of party… And so we’re heading out on the road, we Decemberists, to celebrate the work we’ve made over the last two decades — playing the hits, naturally, but digging into the deep cuts as well. It’ll be a kind of retrospective journey. Come along with us!” The Portland-based indie band have consistently been putting out albums since 2002, so they’ll have quite a repertoire to work with. As they described on their website, “every era of Colin’s facial hair will be represented.”

While regular tickets will be available starting at $40, the band is also offering a rarified concert experience at “Ensign” or “Commandante” levels that will include premium reserved seats, a two-song performance and Q&A with the band, and a bunch of sweet swag. Since the tour was also set to embark during an election year, they’ve partnered with PLUS1 to ensure that $1 from each ticket sold with be donated to non-profits that work to make voting more accessible to everyone.

Step on board as they set sail for Los Angeles next year!
