This alternative folk rock collective was formed when Thao Nguyen met drummer Willis Thompson while studying at William & Mary. Frank Thompson would produce their first album and later join as lead guitarist. Since then, both Willis and Thompson are no longer part of the group. Alongside Thao are 4 talented musicians in Charlie Glenn (guitar), Johanna Kunin (keys/vocals), Adam Thompson (bass) and Jason Slota (drums). Thao is on lead vocals and guitar.
Since 2008, Thao and the Get Down Stay Down have released 5 studio albums along with an EP and multiple singles. Her most recent release, Temple, was released in early 2020. She will be performing and promoting this new album during this tour. The sounds and creativity in this album are really fascinating and I would highly recommend giving the entire album a listen. However, if I had to give you 3 to listen to they would be Temple, Marauders, and Rational Animal.
