Alice Bag’s “Sister Dynamite” Depicts a Misogynist-Busting Superhero

Los Angeles based punk rock icon Alice Bag just released “Sister Dynamite,” the second single of her new album Sister Dynamite that is set to release April 24th. The accompanying video to the songs depicts Alice Bag as a feminist superhero, presumably Sister Dynamite, going around town and kicking ass of men objectifying her and other females. The satisfying video pairs perfectly with the tone of the song, as the driving force behind the guitar, bass and drums pushes the take-no-shit attitude of the song.

Last month, Alice Bag made the announced of Sister Dynamite, which will be the fourth solo album released by Bag, following the release of Blueprint in 2018. Additionally, Bag released the first single of the album, “Breadcrumbs,” a powerful, electric-driven piece.

Alice Bag originally rose to prominence in the Los Angeles punk scene in the 1970’s, but has transitioned into an author and feminist activist following her career as the lead singer and co-founder of The Bags, her original punk band. While she still enjoys a successful solo career, she has spent much of her time using her stature as a punk rock icon to promote feminism and equality, and has been a keynote speaker at the Women Who Rock conference in Seattle.

Alice Bag was supposed to tour following the release of her album, but with the coronavirus currently interfering with touring, festivals, and everyday life, the status of her tour will remain up in the air. Check out Alice Bag in her video for “Sister Dynamite” below:

Drew Feinerman: I have just completed my senior at the University of Michigan majoring in international studies with an emphasis in political economics and development, with a minor in Chinese language and culture, and I have recently been accepted into the Berklee School of Music's masters of music business program. Although my academic interests include economics, political science, and history, I consider music to be my one true passion. Music is, and has always been, a driving force for the way I think and act every day of my life. I have been playing the tenor saxophone since the age of ten, and playing an instrument at a high level has allowed me to only further my understanding and appreciation for music. While I grew up listening to predominantly classic rock, I soon found myself gravitating toward jazz, hip-hop, funk, and other genres, as my learned to both play and analyze music as a listener. As a writer, I am able to apply my skills both as a musician and a listener, and look forward to the opportunity to being able to express my thoughts on various stories in the music industry.
