Hamilton Leithauser Announces New Album The Loves of Your Life For April 2020 Release

Hamilton Leithauser will release his first new album in four years this spring, The Loves of Your Life, out April 10 on Glassnote Records. The Loves of Your Life is Leithauser’s second solo record, following 2014’s Black Hours. The new single, “Isabella” is a splendid, playful and vocal-spinning track that leaves you wanting to hear more. The poetic verses, set against the sweet instrumentals are enchanting throughout.

Leithauser wrote and produced The Loves of Your Life in his home studio over the past three years, assembling “a collection of stories about real people he’s met over his years living in New York City,” such as his new single’s eponymous subject, “a young girl whose parents pay her Manhattan rent, and this is precisely why she can’t grow up,” per press release. Leithauser will be supporting the album release on a spring and summer tour in Europe and the United States, that includes stops at The National’s Homecoming Festival, BottleRock Napa Valley, and Iowa’s Hinterland Music Festival.

Leithauser explains the process behind his new album’s creation in a statement, “I wrote these songs about individual people. I wrote stories and I wrote music; and then I matched them up. Not one story was originally intended for the music it ended up marrying. These are people I know, and strangers I’ve come across in the last few years. All of the stories are based on some kind of truth, but I’m not afraid to get loose with the facts. Most are both fact and fiction, and some tilt pretty far in either direction. I guess people might call this “creative nonfiction” or just “embellished stories. I wrote and recorded these songs in a studio I built for myself in New York. It’s a tight New York kind of space, and I’m jammed in with all sorts of instruments and equipment.”

The Loves of Your Life will be Leithauser’s first full-length since his 2016 collaboration with Rostam Batmanglij, the acclaimed I Had a Dream That You Were Mine. “Isabella” is the second release following the release of “Here They Come,” which then marked the singer-songwriter’s first new music since 2017 Angel Olsen collaboration “Heartstruck (Wild Hunger),” his debut release on Glassnote. Leithauser is also the former lead vocalist for the American indie rock band The Walkmen, which has been on hiatus since 2015.

Kelly Tucker: Originally from Los Angeles, I grew up listening to all types of music. My first concert was Aerosmith with Skid Row, then moved on to concerts with Metallica, Lollapalooza, Guns N’ Roses, Soundgarden and more. One of my favorite shows of all time was when I was in college and someone took me to see the Allman Brothers play. I also scalped a ticket to see Pearl Jam and the amazing Eddie Vedder sing his heart out. My professional career started in 2000 at Nielsen Business Media where I was an assistant in a sales department and later got promoted to advertising account executive. When the recession hit in 2008 and the magazine was sold, I took a job at a call center and later got promoted to assistant to the CEO and COO of a global company. In 2017, I took a position at a pharmaceutical agency, and now currently responsible for coordinating meeting logistics for physicians and pharma reps throughout the United States. In my spare time, I work at Peace4Kids a non-profit in South Los Angeles and write screenplays in hopes to make a breakthrough.
