Underground Arts Will Host Progressive Rock Band Elder on May 7

Elder is a self-described psychedelic-stoner-prog-doom band from Boston, Massachusetts that was formed recently in 2006. This four-part collective is composed of Nick Disalvo (vocals and guitar), Jack Donovan (bass), Michael Risberg (guitar and keyboard), and Georg Edert (drums). They have a somewhat limited discography considering they have only been releasing music since the mid-2000’s, but they have a total of 5 full albums and multiple EPs and demos for you to enjoy. Their first album, the first place they showed up under the name Elder, was actually a split album with fellow psychedelic rock group Queen Elephantine.

Their first full solo LP was self-titled, released in 2008, and stuck mainly to doom metal elements. Over its next few albums, stoner and psychedelic rock sounds and techniques were being implemented more and more, changing their style to a more progressive mix of genres. Their most recent album, which I highly recommend you check out, is called Reflections of a Floating World (2017). The Rolling Stone magazine placed it at number 5 on their list of Metal albums for 2017. Come watch this incredible 4-part group rock the stage at the incredible, intimate venue of the Underground Arts on May 7. Get your tickets while they’re cheap! The show is at 9.
