Death Cab for Cutie on Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater May 21st & 22nd

With a combination of vivid melodies and sensitive lyrics, Death Cab For Cutie have been pulling at our heartstrings and displaying raw emotions in their music since the late 90’s. Still going strong, Death Cab will be putting on a show not just for one night, but two in a row for Austin City Limits Live at the Moody Theater on May 21st and 22nd. Tickets for both nights are unfortunately sold out (no surprise there) but don’t feel like you’re missing it! You can always watch the full performance when it airs on the PBS channel.

Death Cab for Cutie formed officially in 1997 after what started out as a low-key solo project by frontman Ben Gibbard emerged into one of the most prominent indie rock bands of the 2000s. Ranging from grungy rock to indie pop, Death Cab is known to be lyrically imaginative. They made their major-label debut in 2005 with their album release of Plans which includes the song “Soul Meets Body”. Their 2008 album release of Narrow Stairs was also widely celebrated featuring the beautifully chilling ballad “I Will Possess Your Heart”. Both albums were nominated for Grammy Awards. The band’s latest album Thank You For Today displays their experimentation with a different style, sounding even trip-hoppy at times such as in the opening track “I Dreamt We Spoke Again”.

This is a band that will never lose its spark and it’s definitely exciting to see where they will go next. If you’ve already got your tickets for the show, lucky you! If not, be sure to catch the whole thing when it airs on Austin PBS, KLRU-TV.
