Concertgoers at Mr. Bungle Reunion Show Throw Friend’s Ashes Onstage

During Mr. Bungle’s first show back together in 20 years, frontman Mike Patton ended up receiving quite the surprise. During the show, fans threw the ashes of their recently deceased friend onstage at Mr. Bungle and onto Patton, according to Metal Sucks.

The ashes were of Dakota Young, a recently deceased metal fan who had already bought tickets to the Mr. Bungle February 11th reunion show in Brooklyn, New York, with his friends. The friends took it upon themselves to hurl their Young’s remains onstage during the performance, and although the ashes were mopped up after the show, one can only hope Dakota Young’s love of music may serve as an inspiration for others.

Mr. Bungle originally formed back in 1985, though the band played their final concert in September of 2000. Nearly 20 years later on February 6th, 2020, Mr. Bungle joined forces once more to play their first show in 20 years.  The band played at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles, California where they played their 1986 work The Raging Wrath Of The Easter Bunny, from start to finish.

Drew Feinerman: I have just completed my senior at the University of Michigan majoring in international studies with an emphasis in political economics and development, with a minor in Chinese language and culture, and I have recently been accepted into the Berklee School of Music's masters of music business program. Although my academic interests include economics, political science, and history, I consider music to be my one true passion. Music is, and has always been, a driving force for the way I think and act every day of my life. I have been playing the tenor saxophone since the age of ten, and playing an instrument at a high level has allowed me to only further my understanding and appreciation for music. While I grew up listening to predominantly classic rock, I soon found myself gravitating toward jazz, hip-hop, funk, and other genres, as my learned to both play and analyze music as a listener. As a writer, I am able to apply my skills both as a musician and a listener, and look forward to the opportunity to being able to express my thoughts on various stories in the music industry.
