Beach Fossils and Wild Nothing Live at Mohawk 5/19

Indie rock bands Beach Fossils and Wild Nothing are currently on tour together celebrating the 10-year anniversary of their debut albums. The self-titled Beach Fossils album and Wild Nothing’s Gemini were both released May 25th, 2010, and the bands have hit the road for a short spring tour where they will play both albums in full. They will be making an appearance at Austin’s very own Mohawk on Tuesday, May 19th and tickets are going for $30 for general admission before and on the day of the show. Get there in time to catch Wild Nothing starting at 7:30pm, then Beach Fossils to headline after.

With a combination of indie, shoegaze and dreampop, both Beach Fossils and Wild Nothing share a similar sound. Beach Fossils vocalist Dustin Payseur and Wild Nothing frontman Jack Tatum are longtime friends and have even written music together but haven’t had the chance to go on tour alongside one another, so they’re finally making it happen!

Beach Fossils formed in Brooklyn in 2009 with their self-titled album which was critically acclaimed later that year. Their 2017 album Somersault is their latest work and displays their experimentation with a variety of instrumentals and sounds yet doesn’t stray too far from their lo-fi roots and dreamy guitar rhythms that they are known for.

Virginia based Wild Nothing’s Jack Tatum, formerly of Jack and the Whale and Facepaint, kicked off his musical career in the summer of 2009, bringing synth-pop mixed with delicate indie rock to his very first demos. He later released his first full length album Gemini in 2010, which was praised for its unique elements of guitar pop and shoegaze that gave the album a nostalgic 80’s sound. At the end of January this year, Tatum released the EP Laughing Gas and continues to experiment with uplifting beats that so many of us fell in love with.

Both bands are incredibly talented and are bound to put on a phenomenal show. Experience Beach Fossils and Wild Nothing, finally on tour together at Mohawk this May!
