Wavves, Live at Mohawk in Austin 4/15

Can you believe it’s already been ten years since indie surf rock band Wavves released their iconic album King of the Beach? Get ready to soak up that psychedelic San Diego sunshine again because the boys will be hitting up the outdoor stage at Mohawk in Austin on Wednesday, April 15th as part of their King of the Beach 10 Year Anniversary Tour. Doors to the show will open at 6:30pm and the show will begin with an opening performance by Los Angeles surf punk trio, SadGirl. The event is for all ages and tickets are on sale for $22 for advance General Admission and will be priced at $25 if you decide to get them on the day of the show.

Blasting beachy pop punk sounds with rebellious angst-ridden lyrics that any teenage skater could relate to, Wavves have become an energetic ray of light in the surf rock world. Lead singer Nathan Williams formed the band in 2008 and ironically created the name Wavves from his fear of the ocean. The band’s 2010 album King of the Beach became their most notable with eclectic pop punk sounds and bursts of noise guitar that are certain to make you feel the music deep inside your core.

It’s no surprise that Wavves chose to dedicate a whole tour to the anniversary of the album, especially since Williams himself claimed it to be his favorite work so far. This show will be a great nostalgic experience for fans who have followed Wavves throughout their musical journey and for anyone who loves beachy noise rock.

As winter comes to an end and spring blooms, what better way to shake off the stress of doing your taxes than to enjoy a night of loud music and carefree vibes?
