My Chemical Romance, the iconic rock group out of New Jersey, is finally back together, and they will be embarking on a nationwide tour in 2020. The band split in March of 2013 after 13 long years of recording and touring. The reunion actually happened behind closed doors in 2017 and two years later, in December of 2019, MCR’s 8 year hiatus ended with their reunion show in Los Angeles. They extended this show to a small tour abroad. Luckily for MCR and music fans, they have just announced a major 2020 North America tour in September and October.
MCR’s lineup has changed over the years, but the current lineup is as follows: Gerard Way (vocals), Ray Toro (guitar), Mikey Way (bass), and Frank Iero (guitar). They have released a total of 4 studio albums, 2 live albums, and 6 EP’s. These stylish emo rockers first came onto the scene in 2002 with their debut album, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love. That next year, they signed a major deal with Reprise Records and released their major-label debut, titled Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge (2004). This album was their true breakout hit, with the LP going platinum over a year after its release.
Their next studio album, The Black Parade, propelled them to an entirely new level of fame and may be the best collection of songs they have released. This LP has gone 3x platinum in the US and is certified platinum in 7 other countries. The album also reached number 2 on the US Billboard 200 and cracked the top 15 of all the major international charts. After a 4 year period with no new studio albums, they released Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys to positive reviews — the album shortly went gold in 4 countries. This iconic and legendary group’s highly anticipated reunion tour is coming through to Philly on September 18. Get your tickets now for this historic event!
