2020 Grammy Award Live Reactions

Tonight the most influential of the music business gather to celebrate the 62nd Grammy Awards. The ceremony tonight will honor newcomers and veterans of the music industry. There were only a few surprises when it came to the list of the nominees for the 2020 grammies, and not a lot of controversy surrounding the show. Performing at the ceremony is considered a huge career goal for the artists, besides receiving one of the prestigious awards. Stay with us while we report live all night and give you all you need to know for tomorrow.

First, we got some honorable mentions:
During the Pre-show, that was not televised, we already got a bunch of winners. Upfront, Chemical brothers won “Best Dance Recording” for “Got to Keep on” AND “Best Dance/Electronic Album” for the song’s album No Geography. The duo now has six Grammys in total. Cage the Elephant won Best Rock Album for Social Cues, well deserved. Vampire Weekend won “Best Alternative Music Album” for Father of the Bride. Rodrigo y Gabriela won “Best Contemporary Instrumental Album” for Mettavolution. Tool won “Best Metal Performance” for 7empest. Finneas got the award for “Producer of the Year” and last but not least, Tanya Tucker won an award for both “Best Country Album” and “Best Country Song”. Here are some of the best acceptance speeches:

Finneas accepts his award.

Tanya Tucker doesn’t only accept one award, but two.

4:38PM (PST): Only 22 minutes till showtime, we get the typical interviews with musicians, right now Ozzy Osbourne and his daughter. Ozzy has truly a great time in his career recently, a new album on the way and a hit single with Post Malone.

4:55PM (PST): 5 minutes of interviews left, some of them are just a little awkward but that makes them the fun part of the red carpet coverage, maybe we will get a couple of new memes out of them

4:59PM (PST): It’s nice that we will be getting a tribute to the late Kobe Bryant, who just passed away earlier today.

5:00PM (PST): Here we go, showtime!

5:01PM (PST): Lizzo is opening with a dedication to Kobe. Her outfit is amazing and the orchestra supporting her gives her performance a dramatic touch. Lizzo really shows us why she deserves all the glory these last couple of years. The ballet performance is the icing on top of an incredible medley of her most popular hits, “Cuz I Love You” and “Truth Hurt”. We get a flute solo by the artist herself. Lizzo is known for her flute skills.

5:08PM(PST): We start with Alicia Keys emotionally harmonizing with Boyz II Men in remembrance of Kobe Bryant. Their song “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday” shows, Music surely brings us together.

5:12PM(PST): Blake Shelton is performing his song “Nobody but You” with the one and only Gwen Stefani. They both are a couple since November 2015. Gwen Stefani looks like the queen of hearts and it is amazing.

5:23PM(PST): Alicia Keys performs a grammy version of “Someone you loved” by Lewis Capaldi, to lead us through the night.

5:29PM(PST): Jonas Brothers are all about gold in their energetic performance of their new singles “What a Man gotta do” and “Five More Minutes”.

5:31PM(PST): First Award: Best Pop/solo Performance goes to… Lizzo.

5:39PM(PST): Tyler the Creator and Boyz II Men take over the stage with “NEW MAGIC WAND” and “EARFQUAKE”. It is really a performance only he can do. He literally set the stage on fire. Wow!

5:50PM(PST): Best Country Duo/Group Performance is presented by the legend herself Shania Twain. “Speechless” by Dan + Shay. No surprise here, the song was a massive hit for the Duo.

5:53PM(PST): The legendary Prince is getting honored by Usher with a medley of “Kiss”, “When Doves Cry” and “Little Red Corvette” . We will forever miss Prince.

6:06PM(PST): Camilla Cabello dedicates “First Man” to her Father. Cabello is dating fellow colleague, Shawn Mendes, in an elegant and emotional performance. The video in the background shows footage of herself with her dad. During the performance, she reaches for her dad in the audience who is in tears. WE are in tears as well.

6:12PM(PST): Wow, it will be hard to perform after this.

6:13PM(PST): The grammies really gave us the chills with Tanya Tuckers “Bring My Flowers Now”, but now we get awards again. “Best Comedy Album”, the award goes to no other than Dave Chapell, who didn’t attend the show.

6:20PM(PST): Ariana Grande hits the stage with “Imagine” and “7 Rings”, orchestras are big today. “Thank you, Next” ends her performance in lingerie.

6:34PM(PST): We are finally getting to one of the highlights of tonight: Billie Eilish sings with her brother Finneas O’Connell on the Piano. The Duo plays “when the party’s over” in an intimate setting. This is her first time at the Grammys.

6:39PM(PST): Rock legends Aerosmith “Living on the Edge” is as important as ever, but “Walk This Way” featuring RUN DMC is a true classic. The audience seems to have a great time and we also get a short tribute to Kobe again. Steven Tyler has more energy than most 20-year-olds now. Tyler getting girls on stage just seems like a classic Steven Tyler move.

6:52PM(PST): Best Rap Album is up next. This is one of the biggest awards of the night. Tyler, the creator wins a Grammy for his album Igor and goes on stage with his mom and gives a speech as only he can.

6:55PM(PST): Lil Nas X is performing his hit single “Old Town Road” with K-pop stars BTS. “Seoul Town Road”, see what you did there. Billy Ray Cyrus, Diplo, and THE YODEL KID join them. What is happening? This is a live meme happening.  “Panini” all in the style of “Matrix”. The BTS ARMY will be going crazy.

7:08PM(PST): Demi Lovato takes the stage with an emotional performance, her voice trembles and she has to start her song “Anyone” twice being overwhelmed by feelings. She wrote “Anyone” about addiction just 4 days before overdosing. One of the highlights of tonight’s show. These standing ovations are well deserved.

7:20PM(PST): Lifetime achievement winners include: Chicago, Iggy Pop, and Public Enemy.

7:21:PM(PST): John Legend, DJ Khaled, Meek Mill, and others honor the late Nipsey Hussle with a special performance of “Higher”. The artist received a posthumous award for “Best Rap Performance” earlier today.

7:33PM(PST): Rosalia brings Spain and a bit of Flamenco to the stage with “Malamente”. She won “Best Latin Rock, Urban, or Alternative” earlier this evening.

7:37PM(PST): Smokey Robinson and Little Big Town give a little improv before introducing the nominees for “Song of the Year”. No surprise here, Billie Eilish collects the award for her mega-hit”bad guy”.

7:41PM(PST): Finneas, Billie’s brother, won his own award but it’s moving to see the siblings up there together.

7:46PM(PST): Our hostess, Alicia Keys performs her empowering new song “Underdog”.  Alicia Keys impresses during the ceremony with barely wearing any Make-up. Her performance is another HIGH-light, see HIGH because of the piano in the air.

7:52PM(PST): That Post Limon Doritos commercial was actually pretty cool. Posty did it again.

7:57PM(PST): The Osbournes presenting “Best Rap/Sung Performance” is kind of weird, but they show son humor in the situation. “Higher” by Nipsey Hussle, Khaled and John Legend wins the category. DJ Khaled shouts out to his new baby son and John Legend pleads for love in their thank you speech.

8:00PM(PST): The Osbournes really show their comedic side again when introducing H.E.R.

8:02PM(PST): H.E.R. won “Best R&B Album” earlier today and now performs and shows us her Guitar skills are incredible. Not the strongest performance today.

8:11PM(PST): Blues singer Bonnie Raitt sings “Angel from Montgomery” for John Prine, who won one of the Lifetime Achievements, and introduces another musical act, Gary Clark Jr. and the Roots. and their song “This Land”.

8:15PM(PST): What an amazing guitar solo!

8:19PM(PST): We are getting a short sequence dedicated to all the deceased artists from 2019. RIP.

8:22PM(PST): Trombone Short& Orleans Avenue play a little tune, and it really feels like being in New Orleans

8:24PM(PST): An awkward little moment while introducing the “Best New Artist” category. Again no surprise here, Billie Eilish takes home another grammy today but well deserved. She had an amazing career that is just barely starting.

8:26PM(PST): Billie Eilish is shouting out to all the fandoms and it just makes her more lovable.

8:30PM(PST): Longtime Producer Ken Ehrlich is being honored by an all-star tribute featuring, Camilla Cabello, Cyndi Lauper, Ben Platt, Gary Clark Jr., Misty Copeland, John Legend, Debbie Allen Dance Academy, Joshua Bell, Lang Lang, Common, and the War and Treaty. It is one ginormous performance, especially the ballet. They show us again how important music education is.

8:35PM(PST): LL Cool J introduces “Album of the Year”

8:36PM(PST): She did it again, Billie Eilish wins the category and gives a shout out to Ariana Grande.  “Confused and Grateful” Finneas said it right. The siblings leave the stage while the audience is chanting “Billie”

8:39PM(PST): Short break for Billie Eilish, she takes home “Record of the Year” for her single “bad guy”. That was a short thank you. Awkward Billie Eilish is a mood.

Well, that is it. Another award show is over. But the award season might just be the best season. Thank you for staying with us during this year’s Grammy Ceremony! Congratulations to all the winners.
