Punk rock icon Green Day just released another single from their upcoming album Father Of All… called “Oh Yeah!” The band shows that they are still capable of cranking out punk rock hits that can light a fire under pretty much anybody, even more than 30 years after the band’s formation.
In the comments section of the song audio uploaded to YouTube, the band stated, “BTW we sampled a song from the great Joan Jett’s Bad Reputation album. One of the writers on that song is a total asshole so we’re donating our royalties from this song to IJM and RAINN”. Gary Glitter, who co-wrote original song that Jett covered, was convicted multiple times of sexual abuse, thus explaining the band’s pledge to donate to the IJM (International Justice Mission), and RAINN (Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network).
“Oh Yeah!” is the third single released in anticipation of Father Of All.. after the title track and “Fire, Ready, Aim”. The album is set to release on February 7th of this year, and it will be Green Day’s first studio album since the release of Revolution Radio in 2016.
This summer, Green Day is set to tour with fellow punk rock bands Fall Out Boy and Weezer, as the bands will hit venues across the US as well as Europe. Read more about the punk rock mega tour here.
