There’s not many things that New York does meaningfully better at than Los Angeles, but the one arena in which they seem to constantly outstrip our city is art. That’s not to say that L.A. hasn’t had their fair share of artist success stories, and our city is full of excellent museums but nothing quite compares to the burgeoning art scene that New York has enjoyed for much of its existence.
Luckily, what we lack in the major art scene we make up for with smaller galleries like Bergamot Station and La La Land Gallery, where events by talented artists are hosted on an almost daily basis. On January 17th, La La Land Gallery will be playing host to the Inky Psyops & Printed Schemes: Mackie & HAZE XXL opening party. Which promises to blend incredible art with excellent music.
The event will be live soundtracked by Void Manes and there will be additional art from Adam Marx. There is also going to be a live performance by King Buzzo (the frontman of Melvins), who it has been said may have some friends in tow. And given that Melvins recently reposted the video on their facebook page that list of friends could be rather interesting indeed.
Take some time next week to grab a ticket and come to this excellent event to catch some incredible music and to support the art scene in L.A.. Without support we’ll never catch up to NY, and you know we don’t like being second place.
