Sleep Confirm Hiatus Doesn’t Mean They’re Breaking Up

Doom/stoner metal outfit Sleep have confirmed that they will not be breaking up after their New Year’s Eve Show “indefinite hiatus, ” which was announced earlier this year. The band confirmed that they will just be taking a ” much needed break for the time being,” indicating that they may return after this hiatus.

“Sleep has not broken up. After these NYE shows we are taking a much needed break for the time being. Thank you all and happy new year,” the band stated on Twitter in a post that was signed by the band’s three primary members Al Cisneros, Jason Roeder and Matt Pike.

Prior to their set of New Years Eve shows, which began on December 29th, and will end tonight, the band posted a cryptic message stating ”prep hypersleep facil for indef duration.” This led many fans to believe that the group was going on an indefinite hiatus after these set of shows, and led some to believe that the band may be breaking up.

The three-piece metal outfit toured earlier this year with the band Big Business, which saw Sleep support their latest album The Sciences, released last year. This tour kicked off in Las Vegas, NV on May 27, and held stops in Omaha, Buffalo, Baltimore, and Charlotte, before concluding in Miami, FL on June 18.
