Sleep has announced their final tour dates for a while. The band is set to play three back to back shows at Chicago’s Thalia Hall December 29, 30 and 31st to end the year. The band announced the dates via Twitter with cryptic coding-like tweet with a message saying”prep hypersleep facil for indef duration,” potentially hinting at an indefinite hiatus. According to Consequence of Sound, Circuit des Yeux, Joshua Abrams & Natural Information Society, and Big Business will support the three shows, with tickets being available to purchase here.
Since their hiatus in 2003 after their album Dopesmoker, the band then reunited in 2009 playing a number of shows and released their song “The Clarity” in 2014. They then dropped a surprise album last year titled The Sciences, their first album since Dopesmoker, making it 15 years in between. It received much critical acclaim and a high fidelity ranking from mxdwn, stating that “They’ve got it down to a science.”
Since the album’s release, they have played numerous music festivals and shows, with the most recent being earlier this year with fellow band Big Business. The band also got t0 play two sets at this year’s Roadburn Festival, playing The Sciences in full for one and Holy Mountain for the other.
