Chris Daughtry is well-known for being the fourth-place contestant on the fifth season of American Idol. He is currently the lead vocalist and guitarist for the rock band, Daughtry. After American Idol, he was given a deal with RCA Records and formed his band. Their debut album, also called Daughtry, was the fastest selling debut rock album in Nielsen SoundScan history, selling over 1 million copies in a 5 week span. After 9 weeks, the album reached number 1 on the Billboard chart. Chris Daughtry is only behind Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood in terms of the most successful American Idol contestants.
Daughtry has come out with a total of 5 albums. Their most recent album, Cage To Rattle, is their first studio album in 5 years since Baptized in 2013. This album takes on a more mellow vibe than their previous 4 studio albums. This album is what I would consider ‘easy listening’. The album debuted at number 10 on the US Billboard 200 and it is Daughtry’s fifth US top 10 album. This newest tour, starting in early 2020, is intended to promote this newest album.
