You often don’t get to see pioneers and legends in concert. Sure some of them have become so famous that they’re unavoidable, but so many of them have either imploded under the weight of fame or quite literally passed away under the stresses associated with being a rockstar. Failure, for a time, seemed as though they would forever be a part of the former, a band that couldn’t hold up when the going got too tough, the money was there, everything was fine and it was time to walk away.
Luckily for us they decided to walk back. Ever since their reunion in 2014, they’ve done more than anyone could have expected. Many reunion bands simply become touring outfits, happy to play the hits to legions of screaming fans who want nothing more than the musical equivalent of comfort food. Sure there isn’t anything wrong with that, comfort food is good and I’m sure we all have our fair share of bands that have such an incredible “greatest hits” collection that its all we want to hear, but Failure wanted to be remembered for something more and has released two phenomenal albums since reuniting.
In July of next year, Failure will set out to perform a residency at the Echoplex, one of LA’s premier venues, to celebrate the release of their new vinyl box set. On July 16th they will be playing Comfort, followed by Magnified and Fantastic Planet on the 17th and 18th. Be sure to catch this legendary band as they play through the hits that made them gods of the scene.
