Chance the Rapper Cancels Previously Postponed 2020 Tour Dates

Chance the Rapper has canceled his scheduled 2020 tour due to a decision of enjoying family time and a focus on new music. The upcoming tour was slated to start in January 2020, until the following year.

Chance the Rapper released a new album, The Big Day, featuring 22 original tracks with collaborations from various artists. To support the new album, the rapper announced “Big Tour,” an intensive tour with 35 venues — which included New York’s Madison Square Garden and the Los Angeles Forum — in the United States. “Big Tour” was previously postponed five days before the first scheduled stop in September and now has been canceled.

Chance the Rapper explains his decision of the cancellation on Instagram on Sunday. “I know it sucks and its been a lot of back and forth with reschedules and rerouting, but it’s for the best,” he put. “I’m gonna take this time to be with family, make some new music and develop my best show to date. I’m deeply sorry to anyone with a ticket who has supported me this past decade by coming to a show and rocking out with me and I feel even worse for anyone who was planning on making this their first Chance concert.”

The rapper has a good reputation for his commitments to his wife, Kirsten Bennett, and two young daughters. He addressed his regrets of not spending time with family in a postpone announcement in September. “When Kensli was born, I went on tour 2 weeks later and missed some of the most important milestones in her life, but more importantly I was absent when her mother needed me the most. At this point as a husband and father of two I realize that I can’t make that mistake again,” he said.

In the last part of the post, he added: “Thank you all for an amazing year, and a huge thanks to my team and family for being so strong through this whole year.” He promised to “come back much stronger and better in 2020 and hope to see some of you guys there. I truly love you and God bless.”
