The rumors that Ice-T had been working on a new album turned out to be true. The new Body Count album Carnivore is about to remove its cover in the spring of 2020. The hip hop veteran Ice-T confirmed the return of LA-based metal band Body Count on Twitter with a caption as follows:
“I actually just laid the FINAL vocal this morning! It’s DONE. Now the final mixes. Album cover DONE. I’m excited. Best BC album. #2020CARNIVORE”
From the capitalized “FINAL” and “DONE” to the “Best BC album,” the O.G gangster rapper was bubbling with a sense of exuberance and confidence.
Loudwire reported a piece of early news about the new album where Ice-T revealed the meaning of the album’s title. “It’s basically, ‘Fuck vegans.’ We figure, anything carnivorous pretty much kicks ass. We’re carnivorous! I’m not [really] saying ‘Fuck vegans,’” Ice-T joked around, “everyone’s so pussy right now, [so] we’re carnivores.”
If Carnivore arrives in 2020, it will be Body Count’s first release since 2017’s Bloodlust. While Bloodlust collected a string of guest appearances from Max Cavalera, Randy Blythe and Dave Mustaine, Ice-T opened a wider invitation in this album. He publicly invited other rock bands and even talented fans who have brilliant ideas to participate in the new album.
“For any fans of Body Count, if you think you have something that we can fuck with, I can take an idea and turn it into something. On ‘All Love is Lost,’ Max [Cavalera] gave us the first idea and a song came out of that. We’re not afraid of having fun with other bands.”
Body Count’s original lineup consists of a group of high school friends including vocalist Ice-T, lead guitarist Ernie-C, rhythm guitarist D-Roc, bassist Mooseman and drummer Beatmaster V. The hip hop and metal fusion released their debut album Body Count in 1992 and has earned a substantial amount of fans and praise since then. Spanning over three decades or so, today’s Body Count is formed by frontman Ice-T, lead guitarist Ernie-C, rhythm guitarist Juan of the Dead, bassist Vincent Price, drummer Ill Will and two backing vocalists Sean E Sean and Little Ice.
