Black Crowes Presents “Shake Your Money Maker” September 19, 2020 at The Forum

LA is a solid all rounder. You can work or play here in equal measures. Part of me thinks that’s why they stuck Hollywood here, aside from all of the good weather and tax incentives (well former tax incentives) you really can’t be in a better place for anything you want to do. I also happen to know that that is why a bunch of reunion bands come through here. Take for instance – My Chemical Romance, who recently reunited for a set of small shows, are (currently) only showing up in LA, New Zealand, and Australia – all of which are great places to vacation.

Further proving my theory are the Black Crowes. The seminal southern rock band has announced a series of shows taking place at the Los Angeles Forum in Inglewood. Sure, I’m not saying that they are just coming here to have fun – financially it makes a lot of sense to post up your reunion tour in a highly populated city with one of the most ravenous media industry presence across the country. But I’m also saying that it’s nice to go to the beach or hang out in any one of 101+ excellent dress code free restaurants.

The Black Crowes, who grew famous through hit singles like  “Hard to Handle,” “She Talks to Angels,” “Jealous Again,” “Twice As Hard,” “Sister Luck,” and “Seeing Things” all off of their hit album Shake Your Money Maker. The album, which would quickly reach multi-platinum certification, helped to prove the viability of southern rock in the mainstream when many artists were turning toward pop and electronic.

This latest tour celebrates the legacy of Shake Your Money Maker, and will have 46 dates and feature an entirely new backing band including guitarist Isiah Mitchell of the band Earthless, bassist Tim Lefebvre, keyboardist Joel Robinow, and drummer Raj Ojha. Catch them at the Forum on September 19th as they close out their reunion tour.
