Beck Releases New Video for “Uneventful Days” Directed by Dev Hynes of Blood Orange

Beck has finally released a music video for “Uneventful Days,” directed by Dev Hines, the mastermind behind the neo-soul R&B project Blood Orange. This video also features the opening track “Hyperlife,” which opens the album Hyperspace, the album which “Uneventful Days,” will be featured on.

“Uneventful Days” stars Evan Rachel Wood, Tessa Thompson and Alia Shawkat, and begins with two separate shots of Thompson and Woods in a diner. The video then cuts to various shots across Los Angeles, suburbs, showing Motels, different houses and bedrooms, along with a shot of Beck singing the song in a vast empty field.

“I asked Dev Hynes from Blood Orange to direct a video for ‘Uneventful Days.’ I’ve admired the originality and personal style of the clips that he’s made for himself and for others,” Beck explained in a comment for the music video on YouTube. “I feel lucky to now share the piece he created with friends and collaborators… ‘Uneventful days, uneventful nights. Living in the dark waiting for the light. Caught up in these never ending battle lines. Everything has changed, nothing here feels right.’

“Uneventful Days,” along with seven other tracks from Hyperspace including “Saw Lightning,” features production from acclaimed producer and singer Pharrell Williams, whom Beck has been a fan of for over two decades. Hyperspace will be released on November 22nd via Capitol Records.

“I’ve been waiting for 20 years,” Beck began before continuing with, “this is very different from any situation I’ve made music in. There’s a very particular energy and things happen very fast. It’s completely open, so anything goes. Everything’s on, inspiration strikes, and everything happens incredibly fast. There’s not a lot of second guessing, which is great.”
