Nasty Cherry, led by the Grammy nominated Charli XCX, have just released their fourth single as a group. “Music with Your Dad” was produced by Justin Raisen and released through Charli XCX’s record label, Vroom Vroom Recordings. The group posted on their Instagram that the idea of the song came after “a lot of wine and pasta” also adding in the post that it’s the perfect song to play to, “your dad/ daddy/ zaddy/ your lovers dad/ your therapist .”
The group officially announced their formation with their debut single, “Win,” earlier in the year. The group was formed by guitarist and former frontwoman of Kitten, Chloe Chaidez. Nasty Cherry consists of drummer Debbie Knox-Hewson (former drummer of Charli XCX), bassist and set director in the famous Star Wars films, Georgia Somary, and singer/model Gabbriette Bechtel. The band has been performing “Music With Your Dad” live, and the song even made the groups setlist at the NMEs Girls To The Front show in September, which was their first performance in the UK.
This is Nasty Cherry’s first song since their DIY video for, “Live Forever” back in August. The video depicted the group of girls getting tattoos, visiting an amusement park, and dancing around as if no one is watching. Their new single, “Music With Your Dad,” is a quartet detailing their love affair with an older man, drinking whisky and being gifted Cadillacs. “He just wants me/He just gets me/He just wants me/Oh,” singer Gabbriette Bechtel sings on the chorus.
Nasty Cherry has announced an EP to be released later this year, although there are no details regarding their debut project fans can keep expecting jaunty new music. Charli XCX posted about the “Music With Your Dad” release to her Instagram as well as stating there was a “big announcement coming soon” regarding Nasty Cherry. One thing is for sure, big things are coming from the Charli XCX record label girl supergroup, Nasty Cherry.
