Sometimes a venue just goes on an unprecedented tear in terms of booking artists. Right now the Lodge Room is on that tear. Shortly before playing host to the incomparable Jason Lytle, the Lodge Room is bringing in rock legend Billy Corgan.
Billy Corgan is one of the biggest names in modern day rock music, as the lead singer of one of the largest alternative rock acts of the ‘90s, Smashing Pumpkins, Corgan introduced the world to an incredible blend of loud-quiet sounds that conveyed tender emotions and fury often within the same breath. Throughout their run, the band released two classic albums, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, and Siamese Dream. Alongside bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam who were hard at work revolutionizing the sound of rock music, Smashing Pumpkins offered a slightly more tender approach, and a rawer vocal style that would one day give rise to a variety of hard rock and nu-metal acts.
Corgan himself has enjoyed a successful solo career outside of Smashing Pumpkins, who broke up in 2000 but reformed in 2005, and released his first solo album in almost a decade Ogilala in 2017.
This latest tour seems intent on providing Corgan and his fans an opportunity to spend time together in a more intimate setting than either is likely used to. Smashing Pumpkins has been so huge for such a long time that the smallest they’d get might be something in the realm of the Palladium. Any Corgan or Smashing Pumpkins fans absolutely cannot afford to miss this incredible opportunity to see their idol at one of the best small venues in Los Angeles
