Canadian indie rock band Wolf Parade have released their first new recorded track in two years entitled “Against The Day,” which is accompanied by a dystopian visual directed by James Kerr and Scorpion Dagger, with additional animation provided by Levi Buffum. This latest track is their first release since their album Cry, Cry, Cry, released back in 2017.

The new track takes in elements of 8-bit era synth sounds, blended in with the band’s signature indie-rock style, taking in some power pop elements. The visual shows someone listening to music in their home, playing a vinyl record coming out through a stereo, as the outside world is shown to be falling into chaos.

Wolf Parade formed in 2003, with their first album Apologies To The Queen Mary being released via Sub Pop back in 2005, where it charted on the Billboard 200 at 158.Since then, the band have released a total of four studio albums, with At Mount Zoomer being released in 2008. and Expo 86 released in 2010.

“Wolf Parade did a good job with Cry Cry Cry in the sense that it doesn’t seem repetitive when listening to it,” mxdwn reviewer Jamie Hampton described regarding the album. “Each track offers its own quirk to the album, making for a refreshing release in the world of indie-rock.”

The band made an appearance at the Fisherman’s Village Festival, this year in Everett, Washington. The band was joined on the line-up by the likes of Death Valley Girls and The Coathangers.
