Los Angeles has been crushing it lately when it comes to intimate shows from well known performers. As it stands, the city isn’t showing any signs of slowing as the season wears on. Virtually every mid sized or small venue has someone you’ve heard of or someone associated with a band you’ve heard of. Now the Orpheum looks to get in on the fun by hosting Riceboy Sleeps, a collaboration between Jónsi of Sigur Ros and his partner Alex Somers.
Jónsi and Alex are currently touring in support of an expanded re-release of their seminal 2009 work, Riceboy Sleeps and the surprise release of its sibling album Lost and Found. Lost and Found is meant as a companion piece to Riceboy Sleeps and was created in collaboration with their friend and producer Sidney Satorsky.
Alongside promotion of new material they’ve stated that the purpose of this tour is to play smaller, more intimate venues in an attempt to get closer to both the material and fans who know and love the work. Anyone who attends this show could reasonably expect to interact with either or both artists, or have a chance to get a beloved piece of memorabilia signed or otherwise blessed.
The venue too is no mistake. On top of being one of the more intimate venues in Los Angeles, the Orpheum still maintains a level of refinement that a majority of smaller venues lack, which will help in crafting the relaxing spirit that this album attains so well.
The show will take place on 10/15 at the LA Orpheum, one of Los Angeles’ most renowned venues, and will feature Wordless Orchestra as a supporting act. The show is coming up fast, so grab tickets while they’re still available.
