Lana Del Rey, Weyes Blood and Zella Day Sing Joni Mitchell’s “For Free”

Lana Del Rey has been performing a cover of Joni Mitchell’s “For Free,” song that has been one of the performer’s favorites in recent years, during stops on her latest tour. Yesterday the singer shared a video of Weyes Blood, Zella Day and herself rehearsing a cover of the track in what looked like a music studio.

This cover showed all three performers cross-legged on the floor, singing the verses and chorus of the song individually: with Weyes Blood handling the first verse, Lana Del Rey handling the second, and Day finishing off the song, although all three bring their harmonies together on the chorus. This Instagram video was captioned in anticipation of her scheduled Hollywood Bowl performance tonight.

The performer’s over of “For Free,” was unveiled during a performance in Seattle, Washington. This track appeared on Mitchell’s 1970 album release Ladies Of The Canyon, and was previously teased on Lana Del Rey’s Instagram back in 2017.

Lana Del Rey has been performing in support of her latest album release Norman Fucking Rockwell, which was released on August 30th of this year. The tour is global, beginning in Wantagh, New York, and finishing off in Cologne, Germany next year.

She has also extended her tour, adding stops across the American Mid West, South West and Southern regions, with stops in Tennessee, Iowa, Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota.
